My name is Ayliffe Brown.

I am the founder, creator, and designer of Liffe Couture.  Liffe Couture is an interactive fashion line. It embodies retail fashion and cutting edge electronics.

Liffe Couture's mission is to create something beautiful and empowering for all people who love clothing and electronics. This includes artistic collaboration, the DIY mentality, electronic sensor development, and troubleshooting complicated software.  We take thrift store clothing, or raw fabric and alter them into an interactive garment.  Let us connect your senses, hobbies, and fascination for creativity into One Bright Liffe.

I am ocean bred but filled with Atlanta blood. I am a Hampshire College 2015 graduate. While in school, I studied wearable electronics; combining computer science & design. I have found wearable electronics to be inspiration for a life time of dedicated work. I want to spread the idea that individual characters, and attitudes are important for community diversity. I aim to create a space that encourages open dialogue about current social issues and propose solutions that can spread awareness, simply with the clothing we wear.

EXPERIENCE

I have spent a lot of my time, and finances on enhancing my experience in the industry of Wearable Technology. In 2014 I volunteered at the San Fransisco Wearable Technology Conference. Shortly after in 2015, I hosted an Arduino Lilypad workshop in the Pioneer Valley for 10 students.  As well, I have assisted Hampshire College professor, Chuck Malloch, in teaching electronic courses. I think there is a lot to gain within my own knowledge of electronics when I trouble shoot my peers independent projects. I am always interested in collaborating ideas, skills, and interest.

EDUCATION

Hampshire College:

Creative Electronics, Sewing Wearable Electronics, Interactive Textiles, Privacy on the Internet, Introduction to Arduino for Everyone, Unconventional Computation, Computer Animation, Artificial Intelligence, Animal Robots, and Calculus

Smith College:

Introduction to Computer Science through programming Python, Interactive Digital Multi-media

SparkFun:

40 hours of prototyping summer of 2014

SKILLS

Electronics:

I can program in Arduino, Processing, and Python. I find my talent lays closer to hardware development than software. I have experimented with over seven different sensors.

Fashion:

I have successfully designed fashion patterns from scratch paper, and followed through with sewing a finished garment. I can sew zippers, buttons, pockets, etc. I enjoy re-purposing old clothing that I find in thrift stores, or that I am given as a hand-me-down.
